"Any jackass can kick a barn down, BUT it takes a carpenter (or mechanic, in this case) to build it."
NASCAR…The Origin? Author's note: This story was written with tongue planted firmly in cheek...
"Round Barn Dancer" here jus’ lain’ around thinking ‘bout stuff... relaxing after the Sunday race… As I was lay'n here on my couch, watching sports on Sunday, regretting Monday would come all too soon.
Thought I heard someone say there were 11 million people watching a NASCAR race on any given Sunday, but did you hear…there were "woulda, coulda, shoulda," 115 old (Nascar?) cars recently found tucked away in a barn outside Pratt, Kansas, March 2008 ??
(Or I think they were...at least I heard there were !!)
Also heard they were sold on ebay! Just think… REAL Nascar race cars!!!
HEY,… Sure, I know…
paints are faded, tires needing air, and the numbers are barely visible…but just imagine !!
For ALL Nascar fans, wouldn't it be GREAT to know...
It all started long ago and far, far away (somewhere)… way out there in Kansas ,,,
NASCAR racecars (sleeping/waiting)?!
Nascar has a long history of fantastic finishes, powerful machines and historic events.
Now, using what little imagination I have left…
Close your eyes and picture what I saw in my dream!
A squirrel’s-eye camera angle view of the pace car in front going for the green flag…
And on the same Sunday…When TIGER WOODS won his 7th tournament in a row…
I was watching these talented pit crews at the race
BOY-O-BOY; they are really FAST…am amazed at their ability, speed and precision!!!
WWoooWOOO!!! Did you see those Nascar racecars--- toe-to-toe, side-by-side, bumping,
banging, nudging, blam, tapping, pushing, biff, drafting each other trying to pass one another…
sliding backwards, squealing tires, HEE…HOOO…spinning out ---
JUST to get to the CHECKERED FLAG!!!!
Then, in the middle of all this action…I had an apifiny...ALL of these cars were owned and driven by the TOP 5 NASCAR drivers in years gone by!
As I see it… and there is no doubt (?)
Number 3 "The Intimidator,” coulda owned one of these ! Is that a number 3 on it’s hood?
An UNBELIEVABLE black stud sittin’ there…out front …just like my brother’s car!
Man, that car was COOL!
And then there it is... still and forever...
Number 43 "The King" probably stashed that pretty little blue one in the front row, with the STP sticker, proudly in his garage. Imagine the sticker on its bumper?
Can't you just visualize that incredible end-over-end crash…WOW!
You may love him or you may hate him, if he EVER had a chance to own this one.
Honestly, Jeff Gordon’s #24 woulda parked this fabulous (nooo gorgeous), sorta faded redissh-orangishh, color Dupont- like BEETLE…there…by the tree next to the barn.
Or just maybe…
Number 21 "The Silver Fox” was the master of tricky tracks and thrived on cruising Main Street with his buddies in this 1960 flaming-red, bodacious, bouncing Beauty….
Now, parked just outside the Barn.
And let's not forget…the one and only DW!!!
Darrell Waltrip, on top of his game, won eighty-four races and 3 championships!
Didn’t he own that one over there? Oor maybe that COOL Nash Rambler in the corral, next to that nasty, naughty lookin’ black Caddy…
just maybe?
And just MAYBE….Any ONE of the top 5 Nascar drivers, sometime or ‘nother, couldda had any one of these 115…count ‘em….girl-getting, delicious, drooling, delightful…. HOTTIE-MACHINES sitting in or out back of his barn…
Now, If you would excuse me…
I’d better go check out back of my ROUND BARN…‘n see if there’s ONE sitting out there waiting for ME!
Can you spot any rare Nascar Race Cars among these!!!
Hey, you know--- if you squint your eyes juss right ‘n turn your head a little !
or maybe move to the left or… right…or close one eye...(or both)?… NAAAA!
And as you stand just inside the barn door with the sun at your back …
